Heritage wool/yarn

Exmoor Heritage Wool is a award
winning, premier quality product
that is part of a ‘Sheep to Shop’ concept
that I am developing. The wool comes from my flock which comprises four
Heritage breeds, the Jacob, the Devon
Closewool, the Poll Dorset & the Exmoor Horn all of which have a long and
traditional association with Exmoor.
The wool is currently produced in a
number of different grades that meet the needs of weavers, knitters, spinners,
felters and others. The sheep are sustainably pastured on Exmoor
The ‘Sheep to Shop’ concept is designed to increase consumer awareness of the holistic role of the animal
in meeting traditional needs of food and clothing; emphasise the connection between Exmoor and these traditional breeds of sheep; create sustainable local employment by the re-introduction of this Heritage Industry and promote Exmoor by connecting people with farming and
landscape management.
A collection of some of the seasonal hand dyed yarns available.
I have a small batch of hand dyed skeins and are perfect for small projects .
Apple is from our community orchard here in Porlock and the soft pink is from Exmoor Blueberries at Exford.
2018 we won a National Trust Award for our beautiful yarn, This is the yarn that makes “Exmoor Tweed.” We have entered the yarn back into the competition and hope to go back to Blenheim Palace this year.
